Mr president is this change Negative or positive

Positive or negative change?
•President Buhari
Sir: The situation of Nigeria under the change administration is like retrogression. From the look of things in Nigeria, one can easily state unequivocally that the change mantra of the President Muhammadu Buhari- led APC government is typically negative change.
Since the political transition of 2015 from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to All Progressives Congress (APC), virtually everything in Nigeria, including the standard of living is experiencing downturn. This is not only caused by recession, but to a large extent, shows lack of political ideology and political will by the present administration.
Looking at the cost of some commodities today in comparison with their cost during the PDP rule that ended almost two years ago, one can easily tell the nature of change currently operating in Nigeria. For example: 12kg of gas from N2, 500 has drastically increased to N5, 200; a litre of kerosene from N100 to N400; a litre of petrol from N87 to N145; a litre of diesel from N140 to N300; a tin of Peak milk from N140 to N200; a 10kg bag of Semovita from N800 has also skyrocketed to N1700; a Congo (unit) of beans is now N550 as against its former price of N200.
Added to these also: a 75cl bottle of palm oil from N150 has shot up to N750. Even a unit of Guinea Corn is now N300 from N70. A sachet of Indomie noodles from N35 is now sold at N100; Dangote sugar from N50 to N140, even 10 pieces of Groundnut cake at N20 is now N100; a bundle of aluminum roofing sheet from N13, 000 is now N30, 000; a bag of rice has also increased dramatically from N8,000 to almost N23,000; a bag of Cement also from N1, 300 to N2,500;  even  common Dunlop slippers that was N70  now go for N300.
A dollar  is now  N490 as against N170;  a bag of flour has also skyrocketed from N6, 000 per bag to N12, 000;  unit  of Garri (Cassava flake) from N80 to N250; a tube of motorcycle from N700 to N1500;  a biro from N20 to N50;  an A4 paper from N650/pack to N1500/pack. What else has not gone up in Nigeria?
Despite the high cost of living, minimum wage or income level remains constant.  In fact, salaries are not paid as usual, and the masses now wallow in poverty and hunger.  Mr. President, the masses are hungry, starvation is killing Nigerians.

Fake Lawyer, Alpha George sentenced to years imprison

One Alpha George who was arrested in Port Harcourt for impersonating a lawyer has been jailed for three years.
Justice George Omeriji of the Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt said the three years sentence begins to count from when the convict was first arrested.

Before he was taken away; the convict told newsmen that he regrets his action of posing as a lawyer.
In his ruling, Justice Omeriji also directed that the legal practitioners’ attire recovered from Alpha Goerge be placed in the archive of the Rivers State Ministry of Justice.
Reacting to the ruling outside the courtroom, the State Prosecution Counsel, Chidi Eke told DAILY POST that the judgment would served as a deterrent to other fake lawyers.
“The Nigerian Bar Association had been doing a lot to stop quackery and impersonation in the Legal profession.

“With all these an many more we still record incidents of impersonation.
“It is funny how people still decide to impersonate a Lawyer. The NBA has created a seal which is branded for each and every member of the Association. On every process you file in court, your seal must be stamped on it. If not , your process will be thrown out.
“The Law has taken its course on this one. The convict has learnt his lessons and we believe and hope this serves as a deterrent for others out there who are still parading themselves as Lawyers,” Eke said.
The convicted fake lawyer, Alpha George was apprehended and appeared before Justice Adolphus Enebeli of the High Court in Port Harcourt in 2015

Police: why we arrested Peace Corps leader, 49 others

Police: why we arrested Peace Corps leader, 49 others
THE Police have explained why  Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN) National Commandant Dickson Akoh and 49 others were arrested.
Members of the Corps were arrested in Abuja on Tuesday at their head office by personnel of the police, military and Department of State Services (DSS).
According to the police, those arrested are operating an illegal security outfit.
The police said the arrest was an attempt to halt and rid the country of illegal and unlawful security outfits constituting threat to national security.
Flag of the Corp, the police added, “is in semblance with the flag of Gambia”, adding that its beret was for officers on United Nations (UN) Missions.
Recruitment forms were part of documents confiscated during the operation.
Briefing reporters in Abuja yesterday at a joint news conference and parade of arrested PCN members, the Force Spokesperson,  CSP Jimoh Moshood, said intelligence report showed that the corps has started acquiring weapons and conducting convert military training in different locations across the country.
Moshood said: “It is evident that in 2013, Federal Republic of Nigeria Official Gazette dissolved and proscribed illegal security outfits such as Nigerian Maritime Security Agency (NMSA), Nigerian Merchant Navy Corps and the Nigerian Merchant Navy Petroleum Security and Safety, Peace Corps of Nigeria and other quasi-illegal security outfits”
The police said it observed that some of the outfits were still operating outside their mandates and purposes, which they were registered by the CAC.
He added: “The PCN under the leadership of Akoh was registered as an NGO. But with brazen impunity and total disregard to the laws of Nigeria, it opened illegal training camps in some states of the country, where thousands of youths and other persons without proper background checks and screening are receiving converts military training.
“It is consequent upon veracity of intelligence reports from reliable sources, indicating that subversive groups and terrorists affiliates have infiltrated the Peace Corp secretly to ruin and destroy the existing peace being enjoyed in the country that the PCN secret training camps were closed down in Abuja. Kwara and Niger states.”
He added that investigation revealed that personnel of the Corp “are extorting money from unwary youths”.
“Under the guise of recruitment, amounts ranging from N50,000 to hundreds of thousands are being paid by innocent Nigerians to the Corp. Once you pay the money, you are automatically recruited,” Moshood alleged.
The police asked those who paid money under any pretence to the Corp to report their case at the nearest police station across the country.
“The corps has unlawfully turned itself into a security outfit without authorisation and establishment by the Federal Government. As such, it has deviated from the purposes for which it was registered as an NGO by the CAC.
“The Corp has no legal right to wear uniform, parade itself as security outfit, post their personnel on guard duties, and use ranks, insignia, badges of rank, which are semblance of that of the police, military and other paramilitary organisations without the approval of the Federal Government,” he added.
The police revealed that halting of illegal security outfits would be carry out across the country.
The police, however, urged parents to prevail on their wards to return home from illegal military camps opened in some states.
On whether the police was not questioning the authority of the National Assembly, he said: “We are not in contrast with any authority. What we know is that security outfits are established and approved by the Federal Government and in this case, that has not being done.”
But Akoh explained that the money collected was for the kits for the Corp members.
He said: “It is shameful that we have teething security challenges and you are showing our uniform as exhibit. The constitution of the Corp approved by CAC was properly vetted by the security before we were registered in 1998.
“There is national youth development policy that spells out youth organisation to operate and we have over 47 uniform youth organisations.
“We have been operating within our scope and we are out to re-orientate the youth. No matter the character of youths, when they are taught national ethics and discipline, they change. The youths need a platform to change and that is what we do.
“The money paid is for their uniform, kits and accommodation because we pay for the venue. It is voluntary and not compulsory. We have ICPC’s clearance for that money. EFCC is investigating this matter and they discovered that we never forced anybody.”
He accused the police of instigating youths against the corps.
According to a source, six officers of the PCN were injured, with three unconscious at the National Hospital, Abuja, after operatives of the police and DSS agents  raided the corps’ National Headquarters.
  • The headquarters, which was officially inaugurated on Tuesday, was still cordoned off by security operatives as at last night.

Why women who wear jeans, provocative dresses should be drowned – Catholic Priest

A Catholic priest, in the Southern Indian State of Kerala, Father Sharlom, has called for women who wear jeans and other ‘provocative’ dress to be drowned for “tempting men.”
The priest said such women should be kicked out of the church because they belong to hell.

According to him, the Bible does not permit women to wear these types of clothes.
The priest further insisted that he would not give communion to girls in jeans, trousers or shirts.
Father Sharlom was speaking during a sermon in a church in Kerala.
He said, “When I go for prayer meetings in some churches, especially during the Holy Mass, I feel like leaving because of some women who I see in front of me.
Father Sharlom also criticises young women for showing off on social media and even refers to such women as “things.”
He added, “After I lecture young men on the ways of God, they come to me later and tell me, ‘Father, after absorbing all the knowledge you give us, we exit and are exposed to semi-naked women. We’re involuntarily provoked and aroused.’
“What have the preachings taught us about this? ‘It’s best to tie the source of provocation down to the depths of the sea.”
