Speaking on her performance, Tiwa Savage enthused: “Personally, I have been looking forward to honouring King Sunny Ade and when this chance came, I grabbed. Long before I dreamt of pursuing a music career, King Sunny Ade has paved the way for us especially on the international stage. On a personal note, I still remember how he cancelled other requests to perform at my wedding ceremony and I will never forget his that rare act of graciousness.”
Another major highlight of the event will be the auction of one of King Sunny Ade’s famous guitars masterfully painted by award-winning artist, Victor Ehikhamenor.
According to Femi Salawu, Media Executive, Temple Management, the master-piece is a collector’s item and has been receiving anonymous bids. The auction will be moderated by United Auction House.
An ecstatic Ehikhamenor said, “When you are given the opportunity to add a line to the history of a legend, you’d better ask God to take your hand and guide your senses. I’ve loved King Sunny Ade’s music for the longest time and his rhythm is one of the best companion in my studio when working.
He added, “it was a pleasure creating on this guitar for his 70th birthday concert coming up this December. I just heard him say on TV “I have many guitars, but this is my favourite. I call it my baby.”
On a radio appearance, King Sunny Ade has promised his fans one of the biggest gifts. “This is one of my biggest nights ever and I promise to give my audience something to remember for a long time to come.”

South Korean First Female President, Park Geun-Hye impeached

images-1

South Korean first female President, Park Geun-hye, has been impeached by the country’s parliament following a mass protest.
According to ITV news, the parliament voted to impeach Geun-hye in the wake of mass protest of about 100,000 persons who accused her of corruption.
Park’s impeachment succeeded after a vote of 236 for and 56 against, with 9 invalid votes and abstentions.
President Geun-Hye was accused of giving her friend, Choi Soon-sil access to sensitive government information and granting financial benefits to her.
Ms Choi was arrested on charges of fraud after she tried to extort tens of millions of dollars from South Korean companies.
It was gathered that rallies against Geun-hye had been ongoing every Saturday for the past six weeks.
The country awaits the next step if the country’s Constitutional Court will decide whether to uphold the motion and remove Park from office or reject it and reinstate her.
If her impeachment is upheld, Park will become the country’s first democratically-elected leader to be removed from power.
