Dwight Yorke has hailed the impact of Romelu Lukaku at Old Trafford and says the Manchester United striker is ‘more of a threat’ than Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Lukaku has made a stunning start to his career at United following his £75million move from Everton, scoring five goals in his first five Premier League games for his new club.
Yorke, who won three titles during his spell at United, insists he is not surprised by the impact Lukaku has made under Jose Mourinho.
‘He was the one [signing] I’ve always called for,’ Yorke, 45, told talkSPORT.
‘He has been very consistent in the last three years, he has got hunger and desire to play football and he is always a threat whenever he plays.

‘I felt going to Man United would make him a better player, just like it did for me. I felt like we got the right man and for the first five games he has proven that.
‘He has made a fantastic contribution to the team and what he has brought is a goalscoring threat that we have been missing.
‘Zlatan [Ibrahimovic] did it last season for us in many respects, but Lukaku is more of a threat because he is looking to run behind.’
Lukaku was one of three summer arrivals at the Theatre of Dreams along with Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof.

And Yorke believes Mourinho has moulded a ‘very balanced’ team capable of challenging for the Premier League title this season.
‘United in the past has always been able to score from all angles and it seems like this team we are assembling now has the capability,’ the legendary forward added.
