Nigeria VS Cameroon – Primate Ayodele prophesies

The General Overseer of the Inri Evangelical Spiritual Church, Oke-Afa, Lagos, Primate Elijah Ayodele Babatunde has prophesied that Nigeria will beat Cameroon in the World Cup qualifying match on September 1, in Uyo.
Ayodele stated that the match will be won because of Nigerian supporters club, not minding the mismanagement of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) by President Amaju Pinnick.
In his words, “Nigeria should be prayerful, watchful and you know that Nigeria can beat Cameroon if they are very serious. Nigeria must be at the World Cup.
“They must be at the African Nations Cup. They must come to people like us for prayer.”
“Pinnick is not doing the right thing. I don’t want to look at Pinnick’s mismanagement of leadership.
“It is not because of Pinnick, but because of the majority of Nigerians who are lovers of football, Nigeria must win.
“The World Cup ticket is a must. The Nations Cup is a must for Nigeria also.”

Arsenal great Emmanuel Petit urges club to seal Riyad Mahrez transfer with dig at current wingers

Wenger urged to sign £50m star to replace flops who 'run in a straight line'
Emmanuel Petit wants Riyad Mahrez at Arsenal (Picture: Getty)
Arsenal should sign Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez before the end of the summer transfer window due to the lack of quality in the rest of their wide players, says Emmanuel Petit.
In what could be taken as a thinly-veiled dig at Theo Walcott in particular, the former Gunners midfielder said Mahrez would be an upgrade on the current crop of ‘guys who run quickly’ but ‘in a straight line’.
Chile coach provides Alexis Sanchez update with Arsenal braced for late Man City bid
Mahrez shone for Leicester two seasons ago as they claimed a shock Premier League title win, picking up the PFA Player of the Year award in the process.
Arsenal showed some interest the following summer and again this year, while big names like Liverpool, Barcelona and Roma have also been linked with the Algerian this year.

Still, the Foxes star remains at the King Power Stadium with the transfer deadline creeping closer, and Petit has called on his old side to make their move.
‘He knows the Premier League by heart, and has an incredible impact in it,’ Petit told SFR Sport. ‘He’s the kind of player sorely lacking for Arsenal down the right.
‘I say stop focusing on the problems at the back. I’m among those who think the further away the ball is from your goal, the less chance you have of conceding a goal. And the more players you have who are capable of holding on to the ball… How many players are there in world football of that profile?
‘If I were a coach I’d love to have dribblers in my team – quick, technically good, capable of saying (to a defender), “I’m going to humiliate you with two feints, two step-overs.”

- Nnamdi Kanu met with south-east governors in Enugu
- The IPOB leader who has been agitating for an independent Biafra state insisted that he will not relent in his Biafra agitation
Nnamdi Kanu has allegedly insisted that there is no going back in his agitation for Biafra shortly after his meeting with the five south east governors.
The leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) met with the south-east governors on Wednesday, August 30 alongside his father over his call for no election in the region.
We had reported that the the meeting took place inside the Enugu Government House, also has His Royal Highness, Eze Israel Okwu Kanu.

In a series of photos shared by one Somto Okonkwo on Facebook, the IPOB leader was seen leaving the meeting with the governors.
He said Kanu spoke after the meeting insisting that there was no going back on his Biafra agitation.

LIVERPOOL AGREE £35M FEE WITH ARSENAL FOR OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN AS CHELSEA LOSE OUT

In another blow to the Premier League champions this summer, the 24-year-old is close to becoming a Reds player after he snubbed them
Article continues below
Liverpool have agreed a fee of £35 million with Arsenal for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who rejected Chelsea to secure a move to Anfield.
The England international is expected to undergo a medical at St George's Park ahead of finalising a five-year deal with the Reds.
Oxlade-Chamberlain
This is the situation Antonio Conte had feared after reaching a £40m accord with the Gunners on Monday for the 24-year-old.
The Blues boss wanted to speed through the process of completing the transfer so the Premier League champions would not get usurped by Liverpool late on.
Arsenal had preferred to see the versatile player - in the final year of his contract - at Stamford Bridge, having informed Jurgen Klopp’s side earlier in the window there would be no transaction between the clubs.
However, Oxlade-Chamberlain delayed having physical checks or working through any of the other formalities to tie up matters with Chelsea, before expressing his desire to join Liverpool instead.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
The north Londoners had to reverse their stance and open talks with the Merseysiders, who have long held an interest in the Southampton academy graduate.
He was not a priority target for them in this window, but elevates the competition across several positions in the squad. The outlay is more than Liverpool originally intended to spend by £10m, but the current market climate has dictated as such.
Oxlade-Chamberlain believes he will have the opportunity to operate in his favoured midfield role more under Klopp if he impresses.
He would become the fourth new acquisition at Anfield if things progress as planned, following Mohamed Salah, Dominic Solanke and Andy Robertson.
Liverpool have also secured RB Leipzig dynamo Naby Keita in a club-record deal for next summer.
They are continuing negotiations with Monaco over a deal in excess of £70m inclusive of add-ons for Thomas Lemar, while no bid has yet been made for Southampton's Virgil van Dijk.

Suspected Barcelona attack plotters appear in court

Four men accused of being members of an Islamist cell behind the Aug. 19 van attack that killed 13 people in Barcelona, appeared in court on Tuesday, a day after the alleged driver was shot dead by police.
The four, the only ones still alive among the 12 men thought to constitute the group, were brought from Barcelona to Madrid where they were taken to the High Court under tight security for the hearing.
One of those, who appeared before investigating magistrate, Fernando Andreu, was Driss Oukabir, whose passport was found in the abandoned van after the Barcelona attack.
He turned himself in to police, protesting his innocence and saying his younger brother Moussa Oukabir, 17, who was killed in Cambrils, had stolen his documents.
Catalan Mossos D’Esquadra officers leave the scene where Younes Abouyaaqoub, the man suspected of driving the van that killed 13 people in Barcelona, was killed by police in Subirats, Spain, on Monday.
Also in court was Mohammed Aalla, owner of the Audi car used in the Cambrils attack.
One of his brothers, Said, was killed in Cambrils and a second, Youssef, is believed by police to have died in an explosion at a house used by the plotters at Alcanar, southwest of Barcelona, the day before the Barcelona attack.
Mohamed Houli Chemlal, arrested after being hurt in the blast at Alcanar, also appeared in court as did Salah el Karib, who ran an internet cafe in Ripoll that, according to La Vanguardia newspaper, was used to send money to Morocco.
At Tuesday’s closed-door hearing, Andreu planned to read out charges against the men expected to include counts of terrorism, murder and weapons possession.
Andreu was then to ask the accused if they wish to testify, in which case he would question them.
The hearing was likely to end in the suspects being remanded in custody while the judge conducts an investigation that could take months or even years before a trial is organised.
Police on Monday shot dead 22-year-old Younes Abouyaaqoub, who they had identified as the driver of the van that careered along the packed Las Ramblas boulevard in Barcelona on Thursday, leaving a trail of dead and 120 injured from 34 countries.
After the attack, Abouyaaqoub escaped on foot, stabbing to death a man who was parking his car and fleeing in the vehicle.
Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia said on Tuesday he walked some 40 km from Sant Just Desvern, the town on the outskirts of Barcelona where he ditched the hijacked car, to Subirats, where he was shot dead.
Abouyaaqoub, who had changed clothes, walked by night and hid during the day, the paper said citing sources involved in the investigation.
Islamic State claimed responsibility for the van attack and a separate deadly assault, hours later, in the coastal resort of Cambrils, south of Barcelona.
Spanish Civil Guards escort one of four men accused of involvement in an Islamist cell behind a van attack in Barcelona on Aug. 22, in Tres Cantos, Spain.
In Cambrils, a car rammed into passers-by and its occupants got out and tried to stab people.
The five assailants were shot dead by police, while a Spanish woman died in the attack.
Most of the 12 suspects lived in the town of Ripoll, set in forested hills beneath the Pyrenees north of Barcelona near the French border, and most were young men of Moroccan descent.
A Ripoll imam, who police suspect may have radicalised the young men, Abdelbaki Es Satty, is believed to have died in the explosion in Alcanar.
Police believe the blast foiled the group’s plans for a much bigger attack using explosives.

Drop that phone and look up!

One of the best things the 21st century did for us was the smartphone. As we were basking in the euphoria of being able to connect with people miles away with a wireless equipment, the smartphone came along with the social media by its side. With the smartphone, you have the world in your palms; you could do virtually everything and anything.
You connect with millions of people simultaneously, check up vital information about anything and still have the ability to send Short Message Service (SMS) and make calls, all at the same time. The social media itself even seemed more magical and made impossibilities possible, businesses flourished, marriages were established, lost connections were restored, distance was no longer a barrier and we could literally “touch” the world.
However, the “magical” smartphone and its “daughter” the social media has brought with it a whole lot of ills which seem really difficult to combat these days.
Everywhere in Nigeria, youths are seen clinging passionately to their communication gadgets, some laughing, others having this business-like look on their faces, they all have one thing in common: They are networking, building strong and long lasting relationships that transcends any bias, be it religious, political, or ethnical. We all seem to be  busy looking down at our phones that we don’t look up to see the little beauties of life, we don’t admire beautiful flowers anymore, we hardly take note of lowly beggars reaching out to us on the streets, nor do we respond to “hellos” from  “familiar strangers”.
We are becoming more concerned with Facebook “friends” than we are with the people we interact with face-to-face in our daily lives.
When last did we make new friends just by saying hello and talking about random stuff till we felt a connection? Social media platforms have lent a voice to the voiceless but has destroyed the throats of those who had voices. We no longer talk to strangers in the bus while travelling or give people our undivided attention.
Our family time, slumber parties, get-togethers and many more have been replaced by group chats, Skype, video conferencing, etc.
Many live for Facebook and Instagram likes, everyone wants to be Facebook famous, very few people want to write a motivational book or start up a movement for inspiration and youth empowerment.
This is a clarion call for the youths to stop the gadget madness. There’s more to life than that gadget!  The frivolous things of life would always come and go. Many social media platforms are dead and buried, but the important virtues of life will always stand strong. Friendship, loyalty, companionship, marriage would always be here and when you miss out on them, you’re missing out on the goodness of life.

SPORTS: Signing Diego Costa would worry me, says Paul Merson

Paul Merson says he would be worried about signing Diego Costa after his behaviour at Chelsea but he adds that Atletico Madrid hold all the cards.
The Blues striker has refused to return to the club for pre-season training, preferring to stay in Brazil,
and he has said that he wants to go back to Atleti rather than stay at Stamford Bridge.
But Soccer Saturday pundit Merson says he would be concerned about signing Costa if he was a manager after his refusal to honour his contract.
"I'm a big fan of his football wise - I don't agree with his behaviour now - and on the pitch, he is a top player, but I'd be worried about buying him," he said on The Debate.
"When people do this, there is something wrong with you if you're doing something like this. In my wildest dreams, I couldn't do that.
"I couldn't do it, Mark [Schwarzer, his fellow guest on The Debate] wouldn't do it and I know a lot of footballers who wouldn't.

Costa: I won't return to Chelsea,
Diego Costa has released a statement saying he will not return to Chelsea and he "must return to Atletico Madrid".

"So there has got to be something in his make-up. Why would you buy someone who has got that in them to get up one morning, go home and say 'I'm not coming back'?"
While Costa may favour a move to Atletico Madrid, they are currently under a transfer embargo until January 2018 but Merson believes that if a transfer was to happen, the La Liga side would have the power.
"Atletico Madrid could be talking to another Spanish club and saying 'we will buy him and you take him on loan for six months for us'," he added.

Costa is currently in Brazil and not back in training with Chelsea

"It seems at the moment, Atletico Madrid are holding all the cards. They don't have to put in a £50m, £40m or £30m bid. They know that he wants to come and could say 'we'll give you £10m to take him off your hands'."
Former Blues goalkeeper Schwarzer believes Chelsea are doing the right thing by asking Costa to return and believes that the only person the situation affects is the striker himself.
"What they [Chelsea] should do is keep doing what they're doing. They've demanded that he comes back and he isn't. It'll go to FIFA or UEFA and they will try and sort it out through the legal procedures," he told The Debate .

"In the meantime, the one person it really affects and is detrimental to is Diego Costa. His career is now at a standstill.
"Like Merse was saying, if Mr Abramovich decides 'I've had enough, I don't care who he is or how much I'll lost on this deal', although he won't actually because what Costa has done for the club he has made back tenfold already in what he paid in transfer fees.
"In the end, I think they are going to look at it as if he isn't going to play ball, he can stay there and we won't pay him."

Experts reveals What viewing pornographic videos at early age does to men

New research has revealed that men who gain access to pornographic materials at early age are likely to desire power over women.

The American Psychological Association experts noted that “that’s a problem.”

The study co-author, Alyssa Bischmann said, “We found that the younger a man was when he first viewed pornography, the more likely he was to want power over women.”

Alyssa spoke at the presentation of the findings to the APA at the organisation’s annual conference.

Bischmann’s study surveyed 330 undergraduate male and found that the average scholar saw their first porn at age 13.

The researchers also found that men who discovered porn later in life were more likely to pursue the promiscuous playboy lifestyle.

They also found that “men who saw porn earlier in life were more prone to answering questions on masculinity that indicated an inclination to assert themselves over women.”

The researchers are hopeful that the findings can “inform sexual assault prevention efforts, especially in a youth generation with the World Wide Web at their fingertips.”
