Refugees have moved into Donald Trump’s three-storey childhood home

Four refugees – three of whom are from countries listed on Donald Trump’s travel ban – moved in to the President’s childhood home in New York to ‘send him a strong message’ that the US needs to be more welcoming.
The three-storey Tudor home in Queens, which was built by Mr Trump’s father Fred in 1940, is now available to rent on Airbnb for $725 (£535) a night.
It was auctioned off to an unidentified buyer in March for $2.14 million (£1.6 million).
But Oxfam has chosen to use the property to highlight the global refugee crisis. It put the refugees in the home for the weekend and chose two from Somalia and one from Syria, two of the countries listed in Mr Trump’s travel ban.
The 71-year-old issued travel bans on people from six countries and all refugees in a bid to boost security.
The Supreme Court last week allowed the restrictive policy on refugees to remain temporarily. The justices will hear arguments on the bans October 10.

‘We wanted to send a strong message to Trump and world leaders that they must do more to welcome refugees,’ said Shannon Scribner, acting director for the humanitarian department of Oxfam America.
Mr Trump lived in the house on a tree-lined street of single-family dwellings until he was about four, when his family moved to another home his father had built nearby.
Eiman Ali, 22, was one of the refugees who stayed in the house. She said: ‘Knowing Donald Trump was here at the age of four makes me think about where I was at the age of four. We’re all kids who are raised to be productive citizens, who have all these dreams and hopes.
‘To have someone so outspoken against my community become the president of the United States was very eye-opening and hurtful because I have invested a lot in this country.’

And Ghassan al-Chahada, 41, a Syrian refugee who arrived in the United States with his wife and three children in 2012, said: ‘Before the conflict began in Syria we had dreams of coming to America.
‘For us it was a dream come true.
‘I had hopes I would get my green card and be able to visit my country.
‘But since Trump was elected I don’t dare, I don’t dare leave this country and not be able to come back.’

Manchester United face ‘very difficult’ period without Paul Pogba, says Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Manchester United star Henrikh Mkhitaryan believes the club face a ‘very difficult’ period after Paul Pogba sustained a worrying hamstring injury.
Pogba was forced off as the Red Devils stormed to a 3-0 victory over Basel in the Champions League and there were initial fears the 24-year-old midfielder could be sidelined for as long as 12 weeks.
Jose Mourinho played down the rumours earlier this week but Mkhitaryan is confident that, even if Pogba has suffered a long-term injury, the manager can lead them through any struggles.
‘It’s hard, because he’s a top player for us,’ the Armenian told French outlet SFR Sport.
‘It’s going to be very difficult, but the coach knows how to make up for that.
‘We are going to help him come back stronger.’

Ahead of United’s EFL Cup clash with Burton, Mourinho tried his best to calm fears regarding the severity of Pogba’s injury.
He said: ‘I don’t know if it is 12 weeks or 12 days, honestly.
‘So any comment, any new rumour, is totally wrong, because we do not know if it is 12 weeks or 12 days.
‘The player was diagnosed initially after the match, because of the conditions of the muscle and the bleeding, the decision was one more week to wait and to see really clearly in the scans the dimension of the injury and nobody in this club spoke about 12 days or 12 weeks, not at all.
‘It’s a muscular injury in the hamstring but we have a normal procedure and wait a few more days. So it’s completely nonsense information.’

Chelsea star Eden Hazard deals major transfer blow to Paris Saint-Germain

Chelsea forward Eden Hazard has dealt Paris Saint-Germain a major blow by insisting that he will only return to France to play for former club Lille.
Hazard has scored 72 goals in 251 appearances for Chelsea since his debut back in 2012 but the 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge for two consecutive summers.
It’s understood both Real Madrid and PSG have expressed a strong interest in the Belgian but he appears to have ended the latter’s hopes of a deal.
‘There are some big clubs, and it was an attractive league [Ligue 1] even when I played in it six years ago,’ Hazard told French outlet SFR Sport.
‘Big stars want to play in Ligue 1, and that is a good thing.  But if I am to return it will be to play for Lille – they are my club.
‘I still have a career to carve out, with a number of seasons ahead of me.’

PSG star Thomas Meunier, though, believes his international team-mate would fit in well at the Parc des Princes.
‘Eden and Neymar are on the same level of ability,’ he stated earlier this week.
‘Neymar loves to have the ball at his feet, and to create situations on his own. Eden was like that when he first started out.

Trump says the UN hasn’t reached it’s full potential during speech

Donald Trump has made his first speech at the United Nations, where he told the international body it needs to reform.
The US President visited the United Nations headquarters in New York City, where he urged the 196 member states: ‘Focus more on people, less on bureaucracy.’
‘In recent years, the United Nations has not reached its full potential due to bureaucracy and mismanagement,’ said Trump, who rebuked the United Nations for a ballooning budget.
‘We are not seeing the results in line with this investment.’

Despite his criticisms, he also complimented the steps the United Nations had taken in the early stages of the reform process and made no threats to withdraw his nation’s support.
While running for office, Trump called the UN as weak and incompetent, and not a friend of either the United States or Israel.
Since becoming President he has softened his tone, telling ambassadors from UN Security Council member countries at a White House meeting this year that the UN has ‘tremendous potential’.
