‘It’s a scam': Nigerians warned against investing in MMM

The house of representatives has vowed to
investigate the Monrodi Moneybox (MMM) scheme
in a bid to “save Nigerians from falling prey to
fraudsters”.
The rate of Nigerians investing in the MMM scheme
has been on the rise in the last three months.
The resolution of the house to investigate the
scheme was sequel to a motion sponsored by
Saheed Fijabi.
While moving the motion, Fijabi noted that the
scheme was set up by three Russian nationals in
1989.
He said clients were made to invest monies with
the hope to make 30 percent interest in 30 days.
Fijabi said the scheme had no legal backing.
“The scheme’s structure and operations indicate
otherwise as their clients can have multi-level
structures under them and receive bonus (in
percentage) from each financial transaction of every
participant in their structures,” the legislator told
the house.
“It is worthy of note that the government of China
banned the operations of MMM on the ground that
it was a payment pyramid scheme without
registration in the country and has the capacity to
cause financial havoc in the system.”
He said that the scheme capitalised on the high
level of unemployment and poverty in the country.
On his part, Leo Ogor, minority leader of the
house, said it was not possible to invest one naira
in a business and get back one hundred naira as
profit.
“This whole thing is a scam. The Central Bank
should warn the public to avoid falling victim of it.
There is no where in the world somebody will
invest one naira in a business and get back one
hundred naira as profit,” he said.
The house mandated its committees on banking
and currency to investigate the scheme and report
back for further legislative action.
The house adopted the motion after it was put to a
voice vote, with the “ayes” having it.

woman from Edo state who gave Buhari a goat....

Grace Egbon an elderly lady in Benin City,
capital of Edo state, has donated a goat to
President Muhammadu Buhari.
The woman said she decided to present the gift
to Buhari to show her admiration for “his
selfless lifestyle and passion to liberate the
masses”.
Egbon, who said she had been longing to meet
the president, had the opportunity when Buhari
was commissioning the ultra-modern Samuel
Ogbemudia College in the state capital.
“She tore through the thick crowd, making her
way straight to the president who at the time
had finished the official engagement and was
heading for his waiting car,” NAN quoted a
protocol official at the scene of the incident as
saying.
“Many in the crowd got emotional seeing the
elderly lady pull through the crowd with the
goat, determined to make a presentation to the
president.
“Gov. (Adams) Oshiomhole, who noticed the
security cordon between the lady and the
president, came to her rescue.
“He (Oshiomhole) alighted from the president’s
convoy to receive the goat on behalf of the
president.”
She thanked the president for accepting the gift,
which was reportedly handed over to protocol
officials.

FG: US-based Nigerians can return if Trump makes life difficult

Audu Ogbeh, minister of agriculture, says Nigeria will welcome its citizens in the US home if Donald Trump, president-elect, makes life uncomfortable for them over there.

Speaking with state house correspondents after the federal executive council (FEC) meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, Ogbeh expressed shock at Trump’s victory.

Ogbeh said Nigeria might re-tool its foreign policy if Trump turned out to be a sectional president.

“I’m in a bit of shock, but we’re witnessing some very dramatic changes in the world, and I think some of these things began many years ago,” he said.

“The current economic theory ravaging the world is now reaching the poor and the ordinary people. It’s causing a lot of stress. Brexit happened, America has done this now. Many other countries are going to have near extremism ruling the minds of people.

“The rest of the world will have to then carefully watch and see the impact first. He made comments about Nigerians when he was campaigning that they had stolen money, they should go back to their country and live.

“He has a very low opinion of the blacks and Hispanics. We hope he’ll become a president now for all, including Nigerians and others, resident in the US.

“But if he doesn’t, it means we’ll have to re-tune and re-tool our foreign policy to begin to find a situation where we may have to be welcoming some of our people if they come under extreme pressure. We hope it doesn’t happen.”

Ogbeh described the US president-elect as a capitalist who has succeeded in “bringing the system down”.

“Trump himself is one of those capitalists who have managed to exploit the system, but have now turned around to bring down that system,” he said.

“I do hope that he can manage the US without falling into the trap he thinks he has freed the others from. Because eventually when he gets to Washington and begins to feel the pressure of the White House, he may not be as calm as he was this morning when he was accepting the victory, I can assure you. Those jobs exert a lot of pressure.

OMG!!! This Man With 4 Legs To Have Them Removed After 22 Years

A Indian man born with four legs has appealed to doctors to amputate his two extra limbs after living with the bizarre condition all his life. 22 year-old Arun Kumar has two limbs on his lower back – one underdeveloped and the other permanently bent at the knee.

After living without any treatment, Arun, appealed through social media for medical help. A team of specialists responded to Arun’s plea for help and organised a series of tests.

Arun said: ”If I get an operation and doctors take off my two extra legs, then I can also live a normal life. ”I may be able to move and walk properly like others.

”When I go back to hospital, I will meet doctors. If they are willing to do an operation, then I’m ready.”

Despite not being able to move his extra legs, the man from Uttar Pradesh does have feeling in them. Daily Star reports that when Arun was born his parents sought treatment in cities across India.

Arun’s mother Kokila Devi said: ”During childbirth he got stuck and didn’t come out without pain. And when he came out, all his limbs were the same size.

”When my father-in-law saw Arun he took his bullock cart and took me to Farrukhabad.” The doctors at Farrukhabad deemed Arun’s extra legs too risky to operate on – especially on such a young baby – and the family were sent home.

The family were forced to return to their village and learn to live with his condition. Arun’s father Ram Singh, said: ”We went to Fatehgarh, then Delhi, also Jalandhar. The doctors said an operation couldn’t be performed.

”Then we got disheartened and came back to our village and everyone here said, it’s okay just live like this.” Arun, after his appeal on social media, was contacted by specialists at Fortis Memorial Research Institute in Delhi for an assessment.

Orthopaedic surgeon Dr Hermant Sharma, who examined Arun, discovered he also has a second pelvis. Dr Sharma arranged a series of tests to find out how the extra legs are connected and how they are affecting his body.
