MOUAU ready to Sack 460 Workers

MOUAU

No fewer than 460 workers of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) and their dependants are in for a gloomy period as the management of the institution has set in motion the process of sacking them on the ground that the last administration employed them without following due process.
Already, the university management has stopped the payment of salaries of the affected workers and asked them to reapply to undergo fresh screening in what is seen as a subtle way of offloading the workers.
“There is a bit of a mess that need to be sorted out,” the Pubic Relations Officer of MOUAU, Mrs. Adanma Odefa, said, adding that the problem was created by “the Professor Hillary Edeoga administration (which) hired over 460 people improperly without going the through the right procedure”.
“We have this 460 people who were given temporary appointment and the procedure usually is when a staff has a temporary appointment it elapses automatically after one year if it is not renewed. The appointment of staff in question elapsed on February this year,” she said.
However a member of staff of the institution, who preferred not to be named, told THISDAY that “what we are witnessing now is the triumph of a section of the academic staff that are hell bent on rubbishing every thing that Prof Edeoga did including the job opportunities he created for hundreds of people.”

Ohanaeze Youths Mobilise Ndigbo to Obtain Voter Cards

Emmanuel Ugwu in Umuahia
With growing concerns that a lot of eligible voters in the South-east zone are not showing enough interest in the ongoing continuous voter registration (CVR), the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) has launched ‘Neighbour to Neigbour campaign’ to enhance the voting strength of the zone.
The OYC, which is the youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the Igbo socio-cultural organisation, kicked off the campaign at Ikwuano Local Government of Abia State, saying that it was an “aggressive mobilisation strategy” aimed at sensitising the South-east zone for active participation in the CVR exercise.
Deputy President of OYC, Dr. Arthur Obiora, who kick started the campaign at Ikwuano along with the national secretary, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, said that eh campaign would be taken to all the 95 local governments in the five states of the Southeast zone.
Obiora said that the campaign had become imperative in view of the low awareness of Ndigbo to the voters’ registration, which would play a crucial role in determining the direction of political power come 2019.
“This is, therefore, a clarion call on all the political, religious and pressure groups in the South-east to wake up and join us in this ‘Neighbour to Neighbour’ campaign to safeguard our future,” he said.

North Korea accuses U.S of planning to kill Kim Jong-un

North Korea has accused United States and South Korean agents of plotting to kill its Supreme Leader, Kim Jong-un.
A North Korean referred to only as “Kim” was paid to carry out an attack with biochemical substances, the ministry of state security said.
The plot was foiled, it said, but gave no details on the fate of “Kim.”
The CIA declined to comment and South Korea has issued no statement so far, the BBC reports.
The North’s claim comes amid continued high tension on the Korean peninsula.
U.S President Donald Trump has promised to “solve” North Korea and stop it from developing nuclear weapons.
The ministry of state security statement, carried by state news agency KCNA, said the CIA and South Korean intelligence services had “hatched a vicious plot to hurt the supreme leadership of the DPRK.”
It did not mention Kim Jong-un by name, but he is widely referred to as the supreme leader.

Ronaldo remains the hat trick player

You can see the expression right in his face, the mood through which he waves his hand towards the Santiago bernabeu fans making them to understand his ability and credibility in front of a goal post which you never know when he can unleash his wrath upon your team; whether you agree with me or not, Cristiano Ronaldo’s age does not determine whether he will stop scoring goals and most especially the one that can destabilize the morale of the opponent. Even Antoine Griezmann shook his head when he scored his second goal against Atletico Madrid; therefore, he cannot be overlooked and you can’t joke with him when he is in the 18 yard box.
He may have been experiencing what I like to call a footballer’s nightmare. His struggles to find the back of the net seemed an almost impossible and implausible expectation.
He is arguably one the finest footballers the world of soccer will ever produce. Scoring 103 European  goals; even Atletico Madrid can only brag of 100 European goals since its inception. Lionel Messi, his arch rival, is still struggling with 96 goals.
Regardless of his average scoring performance this season, it will be good advice for any one never to underestimate nor belittle his ability to attain a comeback- even at the age of 30.  With his 42 hat tricks for real Madrid, 50 champions league knockout goals, and 13 semi-final goals, we cannot but celebrate the almost ethereal talent of the immaculate Ronaldo.
With the remarkable performance of Ronaldo on Tuesday, he has proven his doubters wrong once again after netting a hat trick against Diego Simeone’s side in the semi-final of the UEFA champions league in front of his home fans; this makes it his second hat trick against Simeone’s side this season and also making him the first player to ever score a back-to-back hat trick in the knockout stages of the UEFA champions league history.
He is indeed a god in the world of soccer; even Lionel Messi with his impressive achievements cannot but recognize Ronaldo’s amazing talent and his ubiquitous historical records.
Finally, Ronaldo has proven his might and the full extent of his talent by not only performing his ‘hat trick magic’ on smaller teams, but preponderantly on the best of the best in the international platform of the Champions league.
With my above postulations and overwhelming evidences, I have just one question for you: Are you still one of his enemies?
