Delta State To Spend N350 Million On James Ibori Reception, Thanksgiving

Media reports say, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has authorized the release of N350 million to fund an elaborate church thanksgiving service and reception in honor of former Governor James Onanefe Ibori.




An official of the Delta State government told SaharaReporters that Mr. Okowa released the funds in order to ensure that the reception for Mr. Ibori, scheduled to take place on Sunday at the former governor’s hometown of Oghara, would be a huge event.

The official said the governor decided that the state government must bankroll the events formally welcoming Ibori back to the state. The source added that the governor’s decision was also “a way to show gratitude to Chief Ibori, who single-handedly made sure that he won the 2015 governorship election.”

Nursing Mother Slashes Her Husband's Suspected Lover's Breast and Face with Razor Blade in Lagos

A mother of three identified as Tina Promise, who resides at Molade Okoya Thomas Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, and allegedly cut her lover’s girlfriend in the breast with a sharp razor blade was on Wednesday, arraigned before an Igbosere magistrate’s court, Lagos.


According to Vanguard, the 28-year-old nursing mother, was docked before Magistrate A. F. O. Botoku on a one-count charge of unlawful assault preferred against her by the police.

While speaking in court, the prosecutor, Sergeant Francesca Job, said that the defendant committed the alleged offence on February 6, at about 9:20p.m, adding that the defendant unlawfully used a razor blade to inflict injuries on the left breast of one Esther Onogwu, 22, who is a cleaner at a popular hotel.

“On the day of the incident, the victim was on her way home after the close of work, when the defendant approached her and demanded for the key to her room.

“While Onogwu was demanding to know who the defendant was and why she would be asking for the key to her house, the defendant suddenly brought out a razor blade and started cutting her on her head and also cut her left breast.

“After inflicting the injuries on the complainant, she was about to leave the place when eyewitnesses apprehended her and asked her to take the victim to the hospital for treatment.

“But she refused, saying that she doesn’t have money to take her for treatment. It was some of the eyewitnesses around that later took Onogwu to the bar beach Police Station from where she was taken by the police to the hospital,” Job said.

According to the police prosecutor, the offence committed is punishable under Section 244 (a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Magistrate Botoku granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000, with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case to March 1 for mention.
