Adeboye says Fayose is the best Governor in Nigeria, He prays for him

KAMARUDEEN OGUNDELE and BAYO AKINLOYE
The Redeemed Christian Church of God General Overseer Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has prayed for Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, to succeed in standing up for the masses.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by Fayose’s Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, the cleric said the prayer during a visit to the state as part of his nationwide tour for the RCCG’s annual ‘Let’s go a-fishing’ programme.
Adeboye, who was received by Fayose and the Ewi of Ado, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, was quoted in the statement saying, “We thank God for your life. We thank God for your courage and for your boldness. We thank God for your being willing to take risks so that your people can be protected.
“You have been a governor who knows when to say enough is enough in defence of his people. And I’m sure you know what I’m talking about and I am sure the world knows. I don’t want to say more than that. But be assured that we are praying for you and you will succeed in Jesus name.”
The RCCG leader also prayed for other state governors.
“We wish all other governors who stand for their people, defend their people, and know when to say enough is enough, success. We thank God for their life,” he said.
Fayose in the statement, said he was sure all Ekiti people were blessed by Adeboye’s visit.
“I know what it means for you to go around (the country). We pray that the almighty will continue to be with you as you traverse the length and breadth of the world spreading the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have longed and waited for your coming. We appreciate your coming because we know what it means.
“You have been an inspiration to many people. We need prayers that the Lord will make 2017 a meaningful year. We believe in God; we believe in you. The Bible says if we believe in the prophet, we’ll have the benefits of the prophet and the benefits of God,” the governor stated.
Adeboye, whose grandmother hailed from Ado Ekiti, told the Ekiti monarch that he could not resist his invitation to call at his palace even though his schedules were tight.
He said, “Kabiyesi, this is my home as my grandmother hailed from here. Many have been waiting for me in all parts of the state and I have to visit all of them. That is why I haven’t been here. But I promise to specially visit you someday.”
In his response, the monarch said, “You have come to your source. By coming to bless the palace, you are by extension, blessing all the palaces in Ekiti State and also all the people of Ekiti.”

Tragedy: A new born baby found foating in a well in bauchi

ARMSTRONG BAKAM
A newborn girl was, on Saturday, found floating in a well at Gwallameji, the students’ village of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, the Bauchi State capital.
This is the second incidence in less than one week.
A dog was found by passers-by feasting on a new born baby abandoned at a refuse dump last Sunday in the same area.
The baby girl found inside the well on Saturday afternoon was believed to have been dumped a day before she was discovered.
An eyewitness, who gave his name as Elkamcy, told SUNDAY PUNCH that the odour from the decomposing body of the baby attracted residents.
“On my way to my shop, I saw many people gathered by an abandoned well in the area. It caught my attention and when I got there, I saw the baby floating inside the well.
“We called the traditional leader, who came with the local chief. They called the police, took pictures and asked some of the boys around to remove the baby. Afterwards, she was buried few meters away from there,” he stated.
The eyewitness, who described the development as painful, said this was the fourth of such incident this year.
The Sarkin Gwallameji of Gwallameji, Hassan Ibrahim, who confirmed the incident, said he had given directives to his subordinates in charge of the community to investigate the matter and find the culprit.
He told our correspondent that he was saddened by the development.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Police Command, Haruna Mohammed, could not be reached as his telephone line was unavailable.

Lampard comes back to Chelsea

Frank Lampard
Frank Lampard admitted on Saturday he would relish a return to Chelsea as a player and is keen to rejoin the Premier League leaders in some capacity even if he is not offered a deal.
The former England midfielder is Chelsea’s all-time leading goalscorer and is keeping his options open after leaving New York City FC following a two-year spell with the MLS side.
Appearing alongside Blues captain John Terry on Sky Sports, Lampard said: “Myself and John are Chelsea through and through so whatever happens, in some capacity I will be at Chelsea.
“Whether it’s with my season ticket, watching them, I don’t know yet, I’ll have very close contact. Whether I’ll have the role (as a player), it’s not all in my hands so I can’t go any further on that.
“I’m very relaxed about it, which is a nice place to be. If the right thing comes, I’ll take it. Obviously Chelsea, I’d love that, but it doesn’t work that way always.”
The 38-year-old left Stamford Bridge in 2014 after scoring 211 goals in a 13-year spell at Chelsea, briefly playing for Manchester City before heading to the United States.
He scored 15 times in 31 appearances for New York City and has yet to decide whether he will retire or not.
“I feel fit, I’m fresh in the mind,” Lampard added. “I understand when you get even past 30, you start to understand things are different.
“What I would say is, if I was to carry on playing, it would have to be perfect. I’m not being snobby and hand-picking what I want to do but perfect for my family, for me and all those things.”
