Here’s why men need regular erection

Men should have erections regularly to keep their penis in great shape. That’s the verdict of scientists.
“If a man does not have regular erection, the penis may shrink,” says an Associate Professor and Residency Programme Director of the Urology Division at Southern Illinois University’s School of Medicine, Dr. Tobias Köhler.
Köhler notes that the male sex organ consists of smooth muscles that need to be periodically supplied with oxygen-rich blood.
“The rush of blood that engorges the penis during erection is necessary to keep it healthy and prevent the tissues from losing elasticity. Without regular erections, the penis can shrink by one or two centimetres,” the urologist warns.
He explains that a healthy man should expect to have erections up to three or five times per night; warning that men who don’t wake up with an erection should see the doctor.
He says when a man regularly has erections while asleep, it indicates that the blood-flow to the penis is normal, as this is absolutely necessary if a man must be able to maintain erection when he is ready for sex.
“Your penis is a ‘use it or lose it’ organ.’ Frequent erections — say, multiple times a night — keep your penile tissue soft and stretchy.
“They also prompt the smooth muscle in your penis to relax, which allows the blood to rush in and get you hard.
“It’s important this happens often, because the stretchiness of your penis decreases if the smooth muscles stay contracted for too long.
“Without a regular, relaxing-contracting workout, the length of your erect penis may actually shorten,” Köhler warns.

Gunmen invade Lagos community, kidnap two landlords, one other

gunmennn
There was tension in Ever Winning Avenue, in the Isheri Osun area of Lagos State after gunmen invaded the area and whisked away two landlords and a woman.
It was learnt that no fewer than 500 residents were sacked from the affected community.
Problem ensued last weekend when the gunmen, numbering about eight, invaded the neighbourhood and hijacked a woman, identified simply as Iya Mitchell.
A resident was quoted by Punch as saying that while the community was trying to raise the N6m ransom reportedly demanded to free the woman, the kidnappers returned to the community on Monday and made away with two landlords.
The names of the landlords were given as one Okon, a retired customs officer, and one Felix, who deals in electrical materials.
A community leader, who spoke with newsmen, said, “Some of us were relaxing outside around 7pm on Friday when we heard gunshots. We fled in different directions.
“After they had abducted Iya Mitchell, they went to another building, but the residents had fled. The entrance door of the building was riddled with bullets. We reported the matter at the Isheri Police Division and policemen came, but they left after some minutes.
“The following day, they called the woman’s husband for a ransom. I learnt they asked for N6m, but they are still negotiating. On Monday, around 7.30pm, they came again and took Mr. Okon and Felix. The gunmen were many.
“We are over 500 that live here. You can see how many of us are left. As soon as my children return from school today, we are leaving too.”
Another resident, who gave his name as Isiaka Rufai, called on the relevant security authorities to send military into the community.
“We are no longer safe here and that was why a lot of people packed out. Until Friday when the first kidnap happened, this community used to be lively. The police alone cannot secure this place. We also need military men to be here always. That is the only way we can be assured of our safety,” he said.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, who confirmed the development, said the police would ensure that the victims were rescued safely.
She said, “Three people were abducted. The case is under investigation and efforts are on to rescue them and arrest the perpetrators.”
Recall that armed men had on September 17 kidnapped nine landlords at Isheri, Ogun State,‎ a bothering town with Lagos State.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai, has revealed that the Nigerian Army will completely invade Sambisa forest this week.
He also stated that they will invade other locations, in order to get rid of all Boko Haram remnants.
Buratai made this known during the maiden bi-annual public lecture series of the Federal University Dutsinma, Katsina, titled: ‘Security Challenges in Nigeria: Case of Northern States’.
“What we see lately is rumblings of a dying group,” Buratai said.
“There has also been a rapid escalation of armed conflicts between herdsmen and rural communities and an unbelievable expansion of cattle rustling and invasion of ungoverned territories by armed criminal gangs as is the case in the North West and part of North Central”, he added.
Abubakar Saddique, a Professor in the department of Department of Political Science and Internal Relations, ABU Zaria, also called for the restructuring of Nigeria’s security system.
“Nigerian Army is over stretched; so, we have to change our security architecture. We should expand police mobile force and train them to deal with insecurity. The mobile force should be transformed into extremely mobile force,” he said.
